32 Piece Minimalist Fall Capsule Wardrobe

Minimal Fall Capsule Wardrobe Planner and Template 2022

The 2022 Fall Capsule Wardrobe checklist is here and filled with all your minimalist wardrobe essentials and a PDF guide on how to style! I love to focus on neutral, minimal basics to allow for the most versatility within my wardrobe. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that there is a lot of cross over from season to season – that is the beauty of a capsule wardrobe! I like to think of this wardrobe template as a fluid checklist that can be tweaked to fit YOUR lifestyle. From these 32 pieces (not including some of the smaller jewelry accessories), there are over 400 possible outfit combinations.

With any capsule template you come across, always consider it as a general framework to help give guidance and direction. I would never want anyone to feel that they need to buy everything at once or purge an entire closet to fit a “specific mold”. Many of these items may already be within your closet and the PDF below can help you think of some new styling ideas. If the 32 items seems overwhelming or excessive, you can easily go through and pick out the pieces that are best fit to your personal style needs. There is crossover between each capsule as certain basics are truly seasonless. I always encourage building a wardrobe foundation around the basics. Once that strong foundation is built, you can easily introduce other items into your wardrobe that may be more on the spectrum of “statement”, whether that be a fresh trend or wearing colors, prints, or patterns.

You can find the link to download the PDF below (it is in small print beneath the next graphic). The PDF includes 70 pages of inspiration for over 400 potential outfit combinations (!!!). You may notice that I didn’t share specific outfits for styling a blouse – I was already at 70 pages and thought it might be excessive to continue adding more. In general, I like to have a blouse as an option for more dressed up occasions (date nights, happy hour, etc). Below the capsule wardrobe PDF are links for the individual items. I try to personally vouch for every item on the capsule, but I’m not always able to do so for various reasons: items I have are from previous seasons, items sell out, shipping delays keep items from arriving to me on time, or I want to give more variety for sizing/price range.

Shirts/Blouses

For the blouses, I included various styles of necklines and sleeves to hopefully provide more options for you to choose from. My favorite White Button Up is from Classic six and linked here. This is the white button up I have and I love it. It is a heavier weight cotton that feels crisp, but still soft. The details from the side slits to the french seams are so thoughtful and stylish. I sized up to a 2 for a little more relaxed fit. I also love my button up shirts from With Nothing Underneath. I don’t have a white one from the brand (only striped and linen versions), but this one looks great! For t-shirts, the Leset style is a new favorite from my friend Mally Goldman (linking her blog here). I also love the shrunken tshirt from Jason Scott (it is more of lightweight, jersey cotton compared to the Leset) or the white tshirt bodysuit from Shop Ambitionist. I size up 1 in all 3 of those styles. For a more cost friendly style, I love the and other stories tshirt. I take my true size in that style since it is an oversized fit.

Knitwear

The striped sweater I have is from last season and I think I might invest in a La Ligne one this year. Mango and And Other Stories are often great options for price friendly striped sweaters. Quince is another favorite for knitwear – their $50 cashmere is one of my favorites for a lightweight layer. I always size up 1 in that basic style so I can easily layer a white tshirt underneath.

Bottoms

A few style choices to note – the wide leg is the *it* silhoutte of the season for trousers and denim. The wide leg style has been gaining popularity the last few years and this Fall/Winter you will be seeing it everywhere. For the capsule, I chose to do a mix of wide leg and straight leg, but you could easily swap out either for your style denim/trouser of choice. I also included an elastic waistband for the faux leather trouser in case you prefer less tailoring.

Dresses/Skirts

The maxi length is the hemline of the season for skirts and dresses. I’ve ordered this one from the capsule template and it will be arriving soon, but the knit style is currently sold out in my size. DISSH has so many chic knit dresses though – it’s hard to go wrong there! I’ve included other knit styles in the shoppable carousel below.

Blazers

Coats/Jackets

My favorite coats are from The Curated – you can shop via this link. If you have questions about sizing, their customer service is super helpful. A mix of cashmere and wool – the coats are beautiful quality at a reasonable price point! If you’re looking for a lower price point, Mango always has great styles season after season. The outerwear from Mango does tend to run on the oversized scale.

Shoes

A common question that I’ve gotten recently is what shoes to pair with wide leg pants (I’ll be sharing more on this in the coming weeks!). As you scroll through the PDF, you’ll notice that I did not pair the loafers or ballet flats with the wide leg trousers. There are various loafer styles from classic to trendy and while you will see loafers styled with wide leg trousers, I generally avoid the combo as I find it looks too corporate/masculine or “bottom heavy”. For the ballet flat, the capsule includes a more rounded toe style, but I prefer a more pointed toe silhoutte when paired with a wide leg. If I were to style a ballet flat or loafer with a wide leg bottom, I would opt for a pointed toe shoe. I’ve included some pointed toe styles in the shoe selection in case you prefer that style as well!

Bags/Jewelry/Sunglasses

Many of the accessories I love (and own) are not able to be linked within the shoppable carousel so I’ve listed them below with direct links. I love using a bag that easily transitions from day to night. Both the bags I included in the capsule (not the tote) are very versatile for casual day looks to a date night out.

Gold oval hoop earrings: Gold filled, under $50, and such a chic everyday option. I hardly take mine off.

Gold medallion necklace: Gold filled and under $200, I wear this almost everyday. I shower and work out in it and have not had any tarnishing in over 2 years.

Black Leather Purse: If you follow me on instagram, you know how much I wear and love this purse. It comes with two different straps (shoulder vs. crossbody). You can also remove the strap for it to transition to a clutch! If you want a closer look at it, I recommend watching the review video I have on my instagram.

Beige Leather Purse: This one is from Polene, I don’t have a bag from them, but I’ve heard great things about quality. They have so many designs that I think are great for transitioning from day to night. If you are looking for additional handbag options that are under $100, I would look at Charles & Keith – the ivory bag I wear often is from the brand and have been pleased with how it has held up over the last year. I wish it was still available!

Please feel free to reach out to me via email or on instagram if you have any questions about sizing, etc. As always, thank you so much for all your support, shopping through my links, and sharing the capsule with you friends!
