Party season in my mind is synonmous with feathers, sequins, metallic, and VELVET. I love the plush, rich texture of the fabric. It’s minimal and not over the top, but always adds a festive luxe look and feel to any outfit. Thanks to Sézane for sponsoring this post, below are 3 ways to style velvet this party season (and through winter!).
I have been on a mini kick this season and immediately loved this dress when I saw it — especially the ruched skirt, billowy sleeve, and open back (especially the open back!!). I took a size 2 (normally wear an XS or 0 in US sizes) and found it to run a little big through the skirt and body. Pair with a sheer tight and sling back heel and be ready to dance the night away!
If you prefer a longer hemline, a silk midi slip dress is always a timeless option. Incorporate the velvet by adding a velvet blazer for a chic and polished layer. I’m wearing a size 2 in the dress and found it to run a little big. I’m wearing a size 0 in the blazer and it fits perfectly! Based off the size guide, this is a size down from my typical size. The blazer is fully lined and will be beautiful finishing touch to outfits throughout winter.
If you’re looking for just a *touch* of velvet, a velvet top is easy and understated, but still oh so chic. It pairs effortlessly with a faux leather pant — dress it up with a blazer or down with a knit jacket, like this houndstooth jacket. I love the bomber silhoutte to the jacket because it gives a more casual edge to the other dressier details. I took my normal size in the top and it fits perfectly, but it is challenging to take on and off. There is no zipper and the ruched, seamed bodice is a tight squeeze over my shoulders. I took my normal size in the knit jacket – size up if you want a more oversized, bomber jacket look.
