Minimal Chic Spring Capsule Wardrobe 2023

April 5th. Can you believe that it’s already April? I asked Shel what month it was over the last weekend and was in disbelief when he said it was April – how is is possible that we’ve made it into spring already? I can feel my mood and energy levels picking up with the longer days and warmer weather – lighter and happier, I’m more than ready to welcome the new season. I wasn’t able to put together a winter capsule – truthfully, I’ve struggled to balance working full time, keeping up with the demand for creating content, spending time with loved ones, and returning to pre-COVID social activities/travel. The burn out was real. So I stepped back and tried to make social media more sustainable with less feed posts and more story posts. Slowing down gave my space to breathe, recharge, and find the balance I was lacking before. Connecting with you over a great fitting pair of jeans, perfect nail polish color, or bingeworthy show brings me so much joy – I love hearing life updates or getting pictures of the chic outfit you wore to dinner. I feel so grateful to have the opportunity to share things I love and just want to thank you for still showing up as I’ve sorted through finding this new balance.

Feeling recharged and inspired, I was able to work on putting together my ideal spring capsule. I’m so excited for how it came together – I love the navy and olive tones mixed with the tans, beiges, and whites, as well as some of the updated accessories that I think will make a stylish impact. Over the years, my personal capsule has grown with intentional purchases; these growing capsules reflect that and my personal style. A capsule is a process and doesn’t come together over night. As your style evolves, so does your capsule. I share these capsules as a source of inspiration, but ultimately your capsule wardrobe has to reflect what you love and feel good wearing. If you’re stuck on trying to develop your personal style, I highly, highly, recommend looking into Alison Bornstein’s 3 word method (follow her on IG and Tiktok, you won’t regret it!). I’m not entirely sure what my 3 words are, initially drawn to classic, chic, casual, and tailored, I struggle to firmly nail it down to 3 alone. For my personal style, I find that I am most comfortable in a denim or a trouser and for that reason, you’ll notice multiple pairs of pants, rather than dress or skirt options.

There is no right or wrong way to create your capsule, but I always encourage starting with the basics. Once that foundation of basics is built, you can easily introduce other “statement” items, whether that be a fresh trend or wearing colors, prints, or patterns. Before jumping into buying new pieces, try using Alison’s 3 word method and confirming that a new item would fit with one (or all 3) of your words. You can also mentally style at least 3 outfits with a new item to ensure it will actually fit into your wardrobe. Over the last few years, my wardrobe goal was to build my foundation of basics. Now that I’ve acquired most of my basics, my wardrobe goal this year is to add in more personality – whether that be in how I’m styling my basics OR pairing “statement” pieces with my basics. I also created a “supplemental” capsule with additional pieces. These are either trend forward or basic items that I either already have and love or I’m considering adding to my wardrobe.

Below is the link to download the PDF (it is in small print beneath the next graphic). The PDF includes the spring capsule details plus a 100 potential outfit combinations. Below that are the links for the individual items – when possible, the specific item is linked, but I’ve also included similiar or additional items. For items that I can’t link in the “carousels”, look to the bottom of this post for individual links. I also plan to share future “round ups” of other items within each category, for example ballet flats or blouses, for additional options. Please feel free to reach out to me via email or on instagram if you have any questions about sizing, etc.

Each of the following bolded words are linked for the individual items I could not include in the above carousels.

Blue Striped Button Up: I have been wearing this button up on repeat since it arrived. I took my true size.

White Button Up: This is the white button up I have and I love it. It is a heavier weight cotton that feels crisp, but still soft. The details are beautiful. I sized up to a 2 for a little more relaxed fit.

Black Leather Purse: If you follow me on instagram, you know how much I wear and love this purse. It comes with two different straps (shoulder vs. crossbody). If you want a closer look at it, I recommend watching the review video I have on my instagram.

Sezane Spring Favorites: The matching navy knit set fits true to size and relaxes a little with wear, the Naelle skirt paired with the Sami jumper. Also the jumpsuit in my capsule is from Sezane – I had the length taken up and found it to fit a little snug in the butt and looser through the top. I love the utilitarian, heavier cotton fabric. If you prefer a shorter trench, the Scott trench is fabulous – beautiful quality and details, plus it is water resistant! My white loafers are the Sezane Vicky loafers – the leather is so soft and comfortable from the first wear, but take note that the loafer runs slightly big and wide. I initially ordered a 7 and had to size down to 6.5 (which is a 37 in EU sizing). My coffee/caramel wide leg trousers are an absolute favorite – I found that they fit true to size with a loose fitting leg. For a classic slim, straight leg denim, the brut sexy is a timeless option with a vintage feel. Rigid with zero stretch, I found these to run small. I sized up 1 and even then took a few wears to really loosen up for more comfort.

For other items that I was unable to link, Onitsuka has great retro sneakers. I have the GSM version and sized up 1/2. For additional purse options, check out Paris/64, Little Liffner, and Polene. I did not link any specific vintage statement earrings – check out Etsy or drops from Julia Vaughn. The green baseball hat is Free Assemby. These cheeky hats from Shop Sovereign Collective are also so fun. For silk scarves, look for vintage styles for a unique option, but I also love the minimal designs from Toteme or LeScarf.

As always, thank you so much for all your support, shopping through my links, and sharing the capsule with you friends!

Xx,

Kelly
